Some feedback

I’ve had the editor for a few days now and have a couple things have come up that are a bit strange, given the transition from UE3.

The default snapping settings are now something that has to be toggled on. - Snapping to the grid, rotate, and scale are off when starting the editor. I found the default hot-key (CTRL+SHIFT+K), but it does seem to me that this is the kind of thing that should be on when the editor starts.

It seems that the masses were overwhelming with the fight for CTRL+S. Personally, I liked using it for subtract. Plus, this really isn’t much of an issue any more with the new hot key menu. Just something that caught me off-guard, at first.

Right-clicking a applied material - on a CSG / BSP brush - to “find in content browser” doesn’t always work. Specifically with: WorldGridMaterial. Which something I like to change, as I don’t find normal and spec maps useful when blocking out a level. Knowing what material is being used, by being able to find it in the browser through a simple action, such as right-click, is a nice thing to rely on.

Selecting all of the vertices on one side of a stair brush doesn’t allow you to move them to a different length. The scale took is the only thing I got to work, when trying to make a stair brush longer. This is for both the building, subtract, and add brushes.

I really liked using CTRL+P to fit the builder brush to a selected brush and I cannot find the hot-key in the hot-key preferences. Is this still an option to use?

Overall, I am very impressed with the changes and I am very excited to see the future of this engine.

We’ll likely add a UE3 keybinding set before release for those that prefer the way keys were bound for UE3.

Some hot keys are still hard coded I’m afraid but we are actively cleaning these up to be bindable.

Hello,

Thank you for your reproduction steps. We were able to reproduce the issue and have entered the bug into our database.

If you have any more questions or comments, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback, we have entered it into our database for consideration.

We have logged your issue with the stair BSP into our bug database.

For your material “Find in content browser” issue, could you please provide additional information and repro steps? I apologize, as we were unable to reproduce it.

We have found the feature previously bound to Ctrl+P that you were requesting. Under the “Level Editor” drop-down in the Keybindings window, it is called “To Builder Brush”. Currently Ctrl+P is assigned to “Open Asset” by default, but this binding can be changed. Please make sure to unbind the previous binding.

I hope that this has helped with any problems you had encountered, but please do not hesitate if you have any further questions or requests. Thank you and have a great day.

The “Find in content browser” thing is a bit odd. It is still happening for me (see attached image), though getting exact steps is odd.

This I have done:

Open a level that has been saved and has built lighting: right-click, find in content browser: works

Make a new level, add a brush, right click, find in content browser: doesn’t work

Make a new level, add brush, build lighting, save, open a new map, then open this map, right-click, find in content browser: doesn’t work

I believe it has something to do with either building the map, or re-opening the editor. I will continue to try and figure out steps that work 100% and I will get back to you.

Thank you for the reply.
