Retarget Physics Asset

Is there a way to copy an existing Physics Asset to a new skeleton?

Really? Nobody?

What I did:

  1. Duplicate the physics asset.
  2. Open it, then in the preview scene settings change the preview mesh to the one you want. Check the results.
  3. Use that physics asset in the new skeleton mesh.

This only works if your meshes share the same skeleton (or bone names) so it won’t work for retargeting because the bone names will be different and gives you an error.

It seems the best way to do this is to simply open the Skeletal mesh>Asset details (tab)>physics>physics asset>assign the new one.

*This will only work when the skeleton which is assigned to that physics asset is also the parent skeleton of the skeletal mesh. To do that: RMB the skeletal mesh>skeleton>assign skeleton.
