Painting Landscape: Material not found

Hi

I wanted to paint my landscape but there is no material I could choose from. Apparently, there is a folder by default named “Landscapes” and I need to put the materials but it seems like this folder is not in my project. Do I need to create the folder by myself?

btw I’m new in UE4

To paint material landscape layers using the tool, its actually very strange from what you would probably expect. Put simply, you only create a single material asset, and assign it to your landscape actor. Within the material editor, you use whats called Landscape Layers node and create the different materials\textures whathaveyou and place the last node into the layers node, and the layers node into the base color, normal, etc.

Highly recommend watching some tutorials, as it took me watching a few videos multiple times till i could grasp the concept.

Now once you are more confident, and comfortable with Landscape layers, you may eventually want to create whats usually called an Auto-Material Landscape Layers. Which applies a differnet layer (material) to the landscape, depending on the angle and/or height of the different areas on your landscape (ex. moutains, cliffs, valleys, etc).
