Yes, this is what i am doing, except for the last step: the crash occurs right when i double click the project, i am not proposed to “open a copy” nor any other choice. This familiar windows never appears, only the crash window. The myname4.4 directory is not created. I just double click on the 4.3 project and get a crash.
But i just noticed something surprising: in the launcher it appears as a 4.4 project, but i don’t see any 4.4 directory in the documents/unreal projects directory.
And, when lauching the 4.4 editor (following exactly what you wrote), the project is not grayed (which is not too surprising if it has somehow been marked internally as a 4.4 by UE).
I’m going to continue to look into this issue. In the meantime, could you post your dxdiag, LOG, and DMP files? Here is a link on how to find this info if you need it.
I can’t reproduce the conversion not running, and I can’t think of any reason it would happen. Thanks for sending the .dmp file though; you should be able to work around the crash by deleting the cached config files in your project’s Saved\Config directory.
