[Request] Reimport Mesh Improvements

Note: I shouldn’t be listing this under Bug Reports but unless I’ve overlooked this i think it would be a great improvement.

The re-import static mesh option for meshes in your content browsers to have options for combine or not to combine meshes. It can be painfully annoying if you’ve made changes to a set of models that you imported (not combined) only to reimport it and have that mesh included everything from the scene.

That’s not how reimport should behave, it’s definitely a bug. I reported this to our importer engineer. He is going to add in some code so that Combine Meshes will be respected by using the different mesh names in the FBX to determine the correct mesh to import.

Hi, this post is from august 2014 and I still see the same behavior when reimporting. It is a real pain to make a little change in your scene and then having to start from scratch in unreal again (all your materials,the model position, etc… all gone)

Based on feedback in this and other threads, I have updated the bug report to reflect the desire of the community.
