Why is light going between these meshes?

Why is light going between these meshes? Just drag 2 boxes into a scene and then snap them together and you will see light goes in between even thought you cannot see between, weird!?

Those 2 meshes are not snapped together 100%.Even on this lowres screenshot you can see a dark line on the meshes which is a gap

I don’t think anyone will try to claim that UE4 simulates dynamic shadows perfectly. High performance dynamic shadow rendering isn’t trivial.

Practical workarounds:

  • If those platforms have Static mobility, rebuild your lighting. The OP image only contains dynamic shadows.
  • Vary the direction of your directional light a little bit in each axis; avoid casting it perfectly in the -Z direction.
  • Scale the cube 2x length-wise (lol).

Thanks guys! You are correct if you build the light it will not show the line but these are going to be dynamically created.
I will try changing the angle of the sun and see if that help and maybe the 2x cube, JK, lol

It will not show also if you overlap by the 2 blocks and maybe have to try making tongue and groove or changing the collision where they can overlap more. It is very interesting how Unreal Handles light.
