Anim trails, matinee, not showing in game

Hello everyone,

Anim trails are not showing in game.

I set them up correctly in my animation with anim notifies.

They are showing in persona, and I created a matinee with the character animated etc…
When playing the matinee everything is fine, trails are showing : all good.

When I enter the game, the trails are only showing on my character (pawn) and not on the 2 other controlled and animated via the matinee.
Their animation is good, it’s just the Anim trail not showing (or their particles emitters).

I tried many many things, can’t get them to show up.
I don’t get it.

Things I tried :
-creating another mesh, another trail, another character in the matinee
-delay before playing the matinee
-changing my pawn to another character

More :
unchecking “auto activate” enable the anim trail, but desactivate the character animation directed in the matinee… ( I am so confused right now )

Thank you for reporting this issue. Would you be able to share some screen shots of your project so that I can correctly set up a repro case. So far, I have followed Zak’s tutorials from the YouTube link, placed a couple of NPC’s into the level and was able to see the AnimTrails on all of the NPC’s. I then created a matinee for one NPC and noticed that no animation would happen. Is this what you are currently experiencing?

I was able to see the AnimTrack by selecting the NPC that the matinee is referencing. I then went into the details of that character and, under the Animation subsection, you can switch the Animation Mode from Use Animation Blueprint to Use Animation Asset. you can then adjust as needed.

If your issue is still occurring, Please let me know so then I may further investigate the issue.

I then created a matinee for one NPC and noticed that no animation would happen. Is this what you are currently experiencing?

Yes I tried the “switch animation mode” and “use assets or blue prints”
It made the trail working but the NPC animations from the matinee were not working anymore.

To be more precise about my matinee :
NPC are playing differently animations in sequence (like an animatics), and they are also translated in the world :
Running animation “on the spot” and translation from matinee.
So when doing that, I had the trail working because of the translation, but the “running animation or the others were not playing”
So for now it’s Trail or animation… :slight_smile:

If possible, could provide a couple of screen shots of your setup for the issue? I have placed a couple of NPC’s into the level with different animations and with different AnimTrails but all of the the trails are showing correctly. Any help with the setup would be greatly appreciated.

Hey OlivierJT,

I just checked our bug database and found that a bug report has previously been entered for a fix on AnimTrails not showing when PIE. The issue is currently still open but currently being investigated. I am unsure of a date or build when this issue will be resolve but it is in our database so that it may be fixed in a future release.

is this fixed yet? I’m not seeing anim trails in level sequences. And this is in 4.21.2.
