Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Video driver crashed and was reset

I'm getting the same exact error as described here: https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/16480/video-driver-crash-on-project-load.html

Except I don't see a solution. I'm running 4.3.1, and 4.4.0, and launching both from either VS or the launcher gives the same results.

And yes, my drivers are all up to date. And, my card is working fine with other games, so I know this is an Unreal problem.

Hello hello_,

What is your Driver version number? To begin with make sure that you are using a WHQL Nividia Driver and NOT a Beta driver which we do not test on.

Can you also include a copy of your DXDIAG.txt file?

Thank You

Is this a laptop and are you using a program which switches the Intel Integrated Graphics Card with your Nvidia Card during high uses?

Thanks

Yes this is a laptop. And up until now it just worked, I'm not sure why it dtopped. It automatically switches to Nvidia when plugged In which it was. I checked for that first.

Hi -

Try this: Go into your Nvidia Control Panel under the 3D Settings >> Manage 3D settings >> Under Program Settings look for or add the Unreal Engine Binary (Win64\UnrealEditor.exe) and for the preferred graphics processor for this program choose the High-Performance Nvidia processor. See if you still get the crash after setting this up. You may want to restart after you save this setting just to make sure that Windows registers the change.

Let Me Know -

I've tried that to no success. And it's all distorted when it does work.

Hey hello_ -

Well I can honestly say I was not expecting that sort of image. Unfortunately I think this is coming down to an issue with your video card itself. Try to look at your control panel's performance settings for the UE4 Engine. Try to give it full performance, bad battery life behavior. You also may want to post on the Nvidia Support forums as well.

This issue is really weird, as I didn't make any changes to my computer or the unreal engine. I'm going to be reinstalling it tonight and I'll post back with my reaults.

avatar image hello_ Aug 11 '14 at 06:34 AM

This is getting extremely frustrating. I've tried updating my computer, updating my drivers, reinstalling unreal, and rebooting several times, anything and everything to no success. Has anyone else had a problem like this? If so, how was it fixed?
