Is Tegra K1 now fully supported on UE4.3?

In the Nvidia demo, the UE4 can fully support Tegra K1 and the Tegra K1 mobile can run many UE4 PC levels such as Realistic Rendering,Shooter Game etc,is it possible in current UE4?And is there any specific config that sould be toggled before running on Tegra K1 devies? Thanks a lot!

Hi ,

I spoke with our compatibility team and they have informed me that there is a driver problem with the ADB interface at this time. Soon that will be fixed, but until then you may encounter some errors.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance with this.

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply!
So,that means (besides the adb issue)

  1. The K1 devices can have almost the same graphics as PC such as many postprocess effects, tessellation, dynamic shadows DX11 features etc?
2.The K1 indeed can run the levels and demos like realistic rendering, reflection, shooter game, effects cave etc?
3.Is there any specific configs(device profile) that needs to be modified before deploying to k1 mobile?
    Thank you again!

Here are the answers to your questions:

  1. We are currently still testing the features you are talking about, so we’ll have something announced soon, but we cannot make any confirmations quite yet.

  2. We have gotten Strategy Game, Mobile Temple, Swing Ninja, Tappy Chicken and a few others running on the Shield. The projects you have listed are still untested, so I could not comment on their support.

  3. You would package the games in the same way you would package an Android game.

I hope that this helps,

Thank you,! I have those questions because I have seen the Epic’s demonstration on youtube,Here’s the UE4 on Tegra K1: Unreal Engine 4 'Rivalry' Tegra K1 Demo - YouTube

I think that Tegra K1 can have those performance that other mobile cpus don’t have.

The Tegra K1 is capable of more than most other mobile processors and we agree that it has a lot of potential. As development continues, you will see more announcements from us about it.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I will be happy to help.

I’ve looked in Github for anything and it looks like anything done for the Tegra K1 demo is not in github. I’m guessing this is only in Epic internal source control. They didn’t say anything about it during the livestream (that I saw).

The current UE4 builds on K1 (From both Launcher 4.4 and the GitHub 4.4) are currently extremely disappointing and seem to run at approximately the same performance as an Adreno 320. For now I guess we’ll just have to wait.

In the forums Ray (The Project Manager) said that they are starting code integration this week (8/18/14).

I don’t believe any of the code is in GitHub yet. So the answer is no, but hopefully very soon. For now you can just make normal Android builds which run about the same of most other Android hardware and not nearly as good as the demo.

Any update on this topic?

Hi there,

looks like the ADB issue did get fixed and we added the Tegra K1 to our list of compatible devices:

However you will need to install the Tegra Android Development Pack 3.0r3. Once you have that, it should recognise the Tegra device and you can begin packaging to it.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks for the Info, however,I see in the 4.7 preview, the ES 3.1 needs git source code. Can’t I package just with the engine?

The K1 does support OpenGL ES 3.1 and our compat team was able to package for Android ETC1 without issues just using the launcher version of 4.7. Let me know if that works for you.
