Why does my LandscapeGrassOutput node create a new layer on my material when connected to the LayerSample?

Grass Output node in my material is creating its own layer and not applying grass to my current layers. I have rebuilt this material probably 100x and never had this issue before now.

After doing everything step by step and force saving the material in between and testing…when I connect the LandscapeLayerSample to the GrassOuput is when the new “Grass” Layer shows up. Any ideas?

I resorted to checking the documentation about this and followeds their instructions and I am getting the same problem…
