Ue4 version keeps going down

my unreal engine 4 version keeps going down. i try to add a new version, but the versions only go down from my current version. i started on 4.20, but my gpu couldn’t handle that, which is fine since my gpu is pretty old anyway, so i went on the next day or so and found that the versions went down from 4.20 and 4.19 to 4.16, next day 4.15, next, 4.14 and 4.13. is this supposed to happen, if so does the version stop going down? if not is there any way for me to fix that?

The versions of the engine will not go up / down unless you install them manually yourself.

You can have multiple versions of the engine installed at the same time. You can’t, however, install a version that you already have - so the currently installed ones will not be present in the list anymore - perhaps that confused you.

Since I’ve got 4.20 & 4.19, I can only install an additional one that is lower than that.

It seems that none of them are even installed? Too low resolution to tell for sure.

What happens if you do this:

ok thats good to kno, but my engine versions dont show up at all and seem to disappear. am i missing something?

It seems the’re not even installed. Not sure how you did that. What happens of you go here:

it just added another version, but now all of the engine versions are of the engine i was using, which is progress

This should not be happening, that’s for sure!

Consider removing all of them, and just add a single one that you need → Install.

WELL THAT’S WEIRD! the engine versions still exist in my hard drive, but they don’t show up on my launcher. imma try removing all of the older versions

Yup, that is not normal!

ya and it looks like those files took up a lot of space

however, the library still hasn’t changed. it’s like epic games launcher doesn’t recognize the folder

Perhaps it’s time to completely get rid of the editor, as in Uninstall from programs. It’s bizarre that the launcher is reporting incorrect versions.

and this isn’t even the first time this happened to me. i don’t understand what’s going on

i think i’m going to reinstall the epic games launcher. somethings not right on it. that’s the only explanation i can think of for why even with no version of ue4 installed it STILL decides to use 4.13.2

Do tell if you ever figure this one out.

Hi there, I have the same problem. I see there is a new version 4.20.1 out but my library sees it as 4.16.3 and so when I install it it opens 4.16.3. Ever since I installed 4.20 when it actually worked, it’s wiped my library access. The highest I can see in my library is 4.19 and below. It says I have a new update (the 4.20.1) but doesn’t show up at all. Something is going on with the launcher? Any help would be great. I have tried deleting everything including the manifest files, which then lets me see 4.20 again but as soon as it’s installed it doesn’t show up in the library to launch.

good to kno i’m not the only one with this issue. as far as i kno, it seems to be a launcher issue. i reinstalled the launcher, but all that did was restart the glitch. i tried deleting the cookies and cache, but neither worked. the data mite be stored on the cloud, but i’m not sure. out of curiosity, what are your specs?

same here, just posted here the same issue

well kinda a fix: if you still want to use that version of unreal, u can locate the executable file and create a shortcut for that on your desktop (c: > Program Files > Epic Games > UE_4.(whatever version you have). it should be ue4editor.exe. works from the exe file so you can still use that engine without even going in the launcher. not sure about offline, but launcher mite work offline, too. hope i helped a few people today.

Seems you’re not alone here, consider marking your own answer as resolved.
