What do I need to consider for launching on both IOS and Android?
I know this is a kind of general question, but what can effect the lunch times from deployment for IOS and Android? It seems that some companies have problems releasing on both platforms at the same time or at least close to each other. I'm assuming besides adding the different APIs like Google play and Apple what do I need to look out for, and plan for when releasing my game? And even if I were to not include any platform specific features, would I still run into problems?

You may need to consider the time each store usually takes on reviewing your app, Google Play is usually faster and with less restrictions. While Apple are more strict to their rules and it is common for apps to come back from the review for things to be fixed and that takes more time as you have to re enter on the queue.
You may wish to check this site to check time it is taking for app store review: http://appreviewtimes.com/ (you may wish to check the raw data also: http://appreviewtimes.com/ios/raw-data ) but dont use it as a prediction it can be super fast or really take a long time
