Ribbon Particle Glitches

So I know there are a wealth of questions on Ribbon particles and how to get them working properly, but I can’t figure out this issue for the life of me. No matter what settings I use for the particles, I always get these glitchy streaks that randomly connects to moving particles from the source location rather than distinct, properly assigned trails. I’ve attached my settings for reference as well as some GIF examples. It seems the issue has something to do with spawn per unit settings but can’t seem to find the right settings. Lifetime, duration both match on each emitter as well.

appreciate your help!

If you look closely it seems to generally attach to the first particle, then it is somewhat random. Disabling “Tangent Recalculation Every Frame” makes this effect much worse.

You’re using Spawn PerUnit, so the spawn rate has to be set to 0 in the Spawn module of the ribbon emitter. (Note that turning the Spawn module off doesn’t have the same effect.)

If I turn off spawning on the Motes emitter, that seems to stop all spawning in the system altogether. Do you mean setting it to zero on the ribbons emitter instead? I guess a bit confused about how to determine the best numbers for Spawn PerUnit settings as I seem to always get erratic behavior no matter how I configure it

Whoops, yes I meant the Ribbons emitter, sorry for the confusion. (Edited my original answer.)

As for the Spawn PerUnit settings, that’s pretty much guesswork as it largely depends on the speed of the particles. But when I tried to set up such a system from scratch I also had the same random trails popping around until I set the ribbon spawn rate to 0.
