Is it possible to make metallic surfaces not reflect objects?

Hi, everyone.

My issue is that I want to create a metallic material and I want it to be really 100% metallic, so I set Metallic to 1 and Roughness to 0. The problem is, this material always reflects objects close to it, even if those objects have “Visible in reflection” unticked. My character has a mesh that’s just a hand attached to nothing, and it looks weird in those reflections.

Is there something I’m missing, or is that just a feature of those kinds of materials and can’t be avoided?

Thanks in advance.

you can just turn roughness up.
What metallic basically does is make the base color darker and show the color of it through reflections.
Roughness makes the material Shinier and more reflective so turning that up should help with what you want.

I know about roughness, thanks. I thought maybe there was another way, because with roughness the material does not look the same. I decided I would use pure metallic for such things as handrails, for instance; they are small enough not to capture reflections.

What you’re seeing might be screen-space reflections and can be disabled in the post process. This is a global setting however and can’t be adjusted per object.

Yes, that works just how I wanted, thank you!
