How can I deform 3D Mask? (Flare out, Taper in)

Hi,

Is it possible to deform a 3D Mask in such a way that it flares out or tapers in? I’m specifically trying to do that with a cylinder mask, which was created using Signed Distance Functions.

It can change its position, height, diameter, and rotation… but I can’t figure out how to achieve the gradual tapering out effect. Here is a gif to illustrate what I’m going for:

I think you are looking for capped cone

Hi,

I had already attempted to create the capped cone but it didn’t work for some reason. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

As you can see it’s a complete mess.

I’ve read others were having trouble with getting the capped cone to work as well.

I get a little different results but yeah, formula from publication is not accurate.

Wouldn’t it be possible to use some kind of gradient to change the diameter of a cylinder along the height?
