Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

UE-55179 Audio data does not change when re-importing a wave file


Create a new project 2. Import a wav file to project 3. Move wav file to scene
4. PIE
5. Edit wav file externally 6. Re-import wav file in project

Result: Audio data in wav file does not change.

Expected: Audio data should reflect the edits made in external program

I can repro this with 4.19.2 using new audio engine. I have a set of Sound Waves that I'm playing from inside a sound cue, and applying a Source Effect Chain to apply EQ. One of them was causing a bit of breakup due to low freq content and being loud. So I opened the source WAV and reduced amplitude. I noticed on reimport the updated levels had not been applied to the Sound Wave. Tried multiple times, browsed to different Content Browser folder and back. I was deleting the Sound Wave in Content Browser and re-importing the WAV and that wouldn't update it, but I am using Source Control (Perforce) so the uuasset is not actually deleted when I do this, unless I manually delete in Explorer.

This appears to be related to having "Streaming" checked in the Sound Wave details. The issue happens for me when Streaming is checked. Unchecking seems to resolve it.

Thanks Jeff, I've created a new issue there (Case # 00044983). However, this issue is already documented there which is why I posted the link at the very beginning of this post. https://issues.unrealengine.com/issue/UE-55179 And at the bottom of that page, it recommends creating a post here for a public thread which is why I started this thread :)

UE-55179 is currently set to "Cannot Repro" however, and I have provided more detailed info in my bug report that I think you will be able to repro with.

I can't edit the title of my bug, but I'm a little concerned that it matches 55179. Could you please update it to mention the Sound Wave is set to streaming?

Still occurs, and bug is being marked as cannot reproduce
