In my head, these are picked up by an admin / mod / Epic staff (?) but who knows. AH works in mysterious ways. Not sure whether this functionality is locked behind a karma gate.
On one hand I wish the first 5 questions needed vetting like they do on the forums; on the other hand, if you’re a new user and need a direct answer to something, having to wait for an answer for 24h over the weekend would be a real shame.
I’ve noticed that some of the questions here related to the “cannot delete long paths” problem here have been replied to by accounts which promote a so called “Long Path Tool”. Being wary I googled the user names of those accounts and found out that it’s actually just some kind of bot promoting the commercial, non-free tool.
My question is: Is there an easy way to report accounts like that? I find it especially frustrating that people are looking for help and only get a “Use tool xxx, it’s helped me” without getting any details which leaves them in limbo.
The only method I found would be down voting the reply but it’s not available especially to new users (with good reason imho). Neither does it really prevent people from being lured into spending money for a problem which you can fix with just the command line - the promotional replies stay visible and continue to suggest that the tool is an authentic solution.
I also can’t report accounts, most likely due to my low Karma, see the screenshot below
I suspect there’s a karma gate preventing me to use the function since I still can’t see it and I’ve seen screenshots from other users (like the above) which show that the option is definitely not just a myth.
Would be cool to have some source of information which tells you how high your karma must be in order to use certain functions.
Then again I have a feeling I’ll feel slightly ashamed when a mod replies to my question and also points me to a rules page or something x)
Btw. I found a small table here which enlightened me a bit and shows how much karma you can earn or lose.
