simple way to break up volumetric fog with a texture

Hello, I am currently working with Volumetrics and I notice the default volumes using Exponential Height Fog is to homogeneous.

I would prefer to break up the volume to make it look like some points in space have more volume than others (preferably with a texture) like this reference.

I have been going over Ryan Brucks [tutorial][3], but it is accomplishing more than what I am trying to achieve and it is geared towards advance users of the particle system and material editor.

If anyone know of a simple answer or way to break up volumetric fog, help would be appreciated.

I think the best way to deal with it is to follow the tutorial. It’s just something complex to achieve.
You could try with simple smoke particles and see how that goes but the quality won’t be the same.
