Licensing question for companion games

Hello,

we are currently planning to code a companion game for our hardware product, that allows people to train the handling of the hardware through a game. The game itself will be free, but the hardware will not. Does the royalties also have to be paid on the income of the hardware itself ( which is not making use of Unreal in any way )?
