Wacom tablet fuctionality in the material editor

Hi, This is more of a bug report/request.
I’m using a Wacom Intuos pro and I’m finding that it does not work especially well in the material editor. Specifically; hotkey+left-click (eg t+left-click to drop a texture sample) takes at least half a dozen taps to work, right click works around 9 times out of 10 in bringing up the context menu (there is also a similar problem in the content browser with right-click, although it does seem improved), and finally the Alr+Right Click zoom is pretty sketchy. It would be great if it was a smooth zoom! My tablet runs fine elsewhere in UE4 and works flawlessly with other apps, such as Maya and Zbrush so it’s not a fault with the tablet.
My workflow, like many others, is 99% tablet based as I get RSI using a mouse for an extended period, but I’m finding that I need to do so in the material editor. It would be wonderful if this issue was addressed.
Many thanks,
Matt

Hey Matt_Cooke -

What version of the engine are you using? I tested on the 4.3.1 release and was not having any problems with my Intuos Pro.

Thank You

Hi Eric, that’s strange. I’m using UE 4.3.1 and Intuos driver pro638-4.
Thanks for your response.

Hey -

What version of the Intuos Pro are you using 4 or 5, and is it wireless or wired?

Eric Ketchum

I’m using the new Intuos Pro, which replaced the Intuos 5 range and I’m using it wired via usb.

Thanks Eric.

Hey Matt_Cooke -

I’m getting this tested on the newest pro version for you. I will keep you informed.

Thank You

Hey Matt_Cooke -

We have tested a few different version of Wacom including the new Intuos Pro. The only time we could get a close (not exact) reproduction was when the drivers were not installed 100% correctly and by that I mean that the Windows Tablet drivers were taking priority over the Wacom drivers. I was able to fix it by installing the Wacom drivers again and it ran smoother. The Alt-Right Click zoom is a bit sketchy using the mouse and keyboard as well. It will only zoom in and out to the upper left hand corner and not to were the nodes are located. The good news about that is that it has been fixed in our internal build and hopefully will be pushed out with a future release.

Thank You

Eric Ketchum

Hey Eric,
Thank you very much for looking into this issue and fir getting back to me. Just last week I completely re-installed the wacom driver and disabled all of Windows 7’s built in tablet functionality, but that has not helped. The thing that is strange is that I only have this problem with UE4, specifically in the material editor… I’m running Windows 7 Professional, if that is a variable that may have been overlooked?
Many thanks,
Matt
