Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog

your widget probably doesnt exist when your trying to get the variable .

How exactly are you setting Password Screen, it's possible the widget has not been created yet at the time you set Password Screen.

Either it haven't been created, or it been created but haven't been assigned to that variable he is referring to.

Variable "Pass" was a null pointer. Had you set "pass" somewhere? (There is no set in all the screenshot provided)

Or even better, is it okay to provide the blueprint/project for people looking into it? The screenshot only helps a little.

I Had not set "Pass" I Just Only Create Variable "Pass" And This Is Widget Referance.

That is why your PIE produced errors. Creating a widget reference without assigned value and calling a function/deref a variable from it is not going to be processed.

I do have few concerns regard the design of using widget in this way. A desirable flow process should be:

  1. Spawn widget once in GameMode/GameState, then defaulted to Hidden.

  2. On Box Collision, turn this widget to Visible as it needs mouse-keyboard interaction. You may pause the game but do not pause input.

  3. Type in whatever value in the text field. Once lose focus on the text field, press any button to print the content of the text field.

Right now the issue is:

  1. Widget being spawned multiple time, I had no idea which one is the "newest" one. Not to mention one may overlap on top another...I didn't see any RemoveFromParent() node being called.

  2. You have an extra variable, "pass" flying around in the event call, but it has never been set. There should be a variable call "keyboard..." which you partially erased it (Personal opinions: if your variable is not okay for the public to see, rename it and clean your blueprint.). Calling strrr from it should be okay if you have a default value. However, it will not be user entered context.

  3. It is quite hard for me to actually figure it out if no blueprints source provided. This is all based assumption, which may not help.
