I have UE4 installed on an external drive. Why do I have to download all my engines again?

I have UE4 11, 15, 18, 19, and 20 installed and working from my external hard drive. My laptop failed today, so I switched to another. The launcher ran just fine, but it refused to work with the 89GB of installed engines that I already have. I has been almost two hours of download, and I have UE_4.20 at 81% complete now. Do I really have to do separate installations for every computer? What is preventing the engine from working? Can I just add a DLL or insert a registry entry?

I don’t have an answer for force registry recognition…

What I do normally is I will start the download to make the directory register and recognized, pause the download, close the launcher, and override all content by copy from external (AKA folder replace)

Then resume the launcher for verification. This normally take me less than 10 minutes without download too much content.
