Diacritics in asset names prevent ue4 from loading it - failed to load assets

I noticed that there is some kind of problem when using diacritics in asset names in UE 4.20. Always when there is a diacritic symbol in the asset name, the engine fails to load the asset and I even cannot delete or reimport it. This was not an issue with version 4.19. Is there some kind of fix or workaround to this problem?

I also noticed that this problem occurs only in projects that we converted from version 4.19 to 4.20. If there were diacritic symbols in the static mesh names before the conversion to 4.20, they then fail to load in 4.20.
