Weird shadows appearing with new pc

Hi!

I’m getting weird shadows on my static meshes when baking. Have a brand new pc, making some content for a new ue4 project and when testing all of my models are getting these weird shadows, even some old simple models I’ve used before (the wagon) have this new problem. I’ve checked lightmaps, tested other engine versions, quite a few light settings and looked on forums on and off for 4 days now, no solutions seem to work.

Also I’m having slightly lower performance in the editor? It was terrible but i reinstalled the engine and now it’s not too obvious but still annoying.

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

I guess your planks are separate objects…
Well anyway the problem is that those lightmap resolutions are too low! You get shadow “bleeding” because Unreal can’t visualize the proper lighting, so you’ll get “incorrect” result!
Have a better lightmap uv layout or raise the lightmap resolution till you get the desired result!

Thank you so much Makigirl! I just realised that wagon sucked, think I used it with dynamic lighting back in the day. Also my lightmap uv layout (on the book and a few other props) seems to have been messed up. I just created new and better UVs in Maya and they’re working great now. Many thanks!
