Lighting Build Export to Another Machine, Possible?

Hi All,

Newbie to UE4, about 11 months experience. Use it in conjunction with Maya, 3dsMAX and Revit, mainly for Architectural projects, and recent focus is on Condo Interior Design, VR, Panormic Views, etc. Recently I encountered a packaging problem where a project cannot be properly packaged for win64. Although the problem was solved eventually (just this morning actually), during the antagonizing process, another question popped up – as I copied the entire project folder and moved from machine to machine to try to build from scratch and single out the problem, it made wonder whether it is possible to ‘build light’ on machine A, and then only copy some file(s)/folder(s) of the project on machine A, paste it/them to machine B containing the same project but haven’t built light. Would the project on machine B has the same lighting results as machine A? If my assumption is right, which file(s)/folder(s) should I copy?

Thank you very much

I do not know about copy and pasting pre built lighting files from machine to machine, but it sounds like you want to have one machine build lighting for another machine and this can be done with the built in swarm agent. (Which means I assume you should also be able to do it the manual way you mentioned).

Check this out, it might be of help:

Thank you Steve for your prompt reply. Yes you are right I am trying to figure out how to use swarm agent and coordinator and summon all the CPU powers in the office (still haven’t cracked it so far :frowning: ). What really makes wonder is whether UE4 would put all the light build result inside a file/files? or it is ‘applied’ to each individual assets inside the level?
