Hey, so I’ve been having some problems with VS 2017. It was really slow on my computer so I decided to change to a lighter IDE, and I chose VS Code. But I’ve also been having some problems with this IDE.
One of the problems is that auto-completion is missing a lot of stuff. I mean it can auto-complete some things but it doesn’t autocomplete some UE4 related stuff.
It also doesn’t detect errors. For example, if I forget to put a ‘;’ at the end of a line, it doesn’t even notice it.
To show you an example of the first problem, here are 2 screenshots. The first is from a youtube tutorial that is also using VS Code, and the second one is a screenshot I took, of me trying to type the same thing as him. And the “PointLight” variable is a class UPointLightComponent, both on my code and his.
I noticed a lot of issues with default visual studio and ue4. The solution for me was visual studio with visual assist x and intellisense turned off. It works fantastic, and i believe this setup is even used by epic themselves and is the recommended way of doing it. The only issue is that visual assist x is not free, luckly it does have a free trial and isnt that expensive.
