Maya to UE4: Importing Skeletal Mesh/Animation FBX won't import skeleton bones hierarchy

When importing my character’s FBX, whether to create a new skeletal mesh or import animations, it will always list the meshes as the bones in engine. None of the actual skeleton joints are imported. I am working in a standard Maya workflow with the latest version of Maya and FBX export.

Does anyone know why this happens and possibly how to fix this?

Im experiencing the same problem, like 4 months ago i was creating skeletal meshes and importing them into unreal no problem, BUT NOW my fbx files are not working, no joints at all, the mesh becomes the joint, and this happens for all my new files, not older ones, the old files import just fine, so IS NOT UNREAL 1.19 btw, if I import a working fbx file into maya, and then re export it as bfx again, it stops working, no settings change, but one thing i noticed, old file is fbx version 7.4 and new FBX files get 7.5, even more weird is that 7.4 version is 2014/2015, and i created that file 4 months ago, so when did this started to deliver 7.5 version , if before it was 7.4 , ANYWAY NONE OF THIS HELPED ME, im STUCK, after 7 hours im burn out, ANYONE PLS HELP XD
