How do I enable Dithered Lod Transitions

Hey all,

I want to take advantage of dithered lod transitions, as I believe they look nicer, but I am trying to activate them but I am still getting popping! I set the Lod group to ‘foliage’ in the static mesh settings, and enabled ‘dithered lod transition’ in the material, and I am still getting popping between lods. I looked it up, but I wasn’t able to find anything.

I’m guessing theres a single tickbox I am forgetting somewhere, but I cant find it.

Thanks in advance!

FYI: I’m not an expert
I checked dithered lod transitions of my foliage material and it worked fine.
Can you post a screenshot of the details panel of your material, just the “Material” section.

Whelp, I didn’t save the test project file so I made a new one and repeated the steps and now it works. So who knows what went wrong!

I would guess you changed one of your material settings changing it to transluscent or something like that.

Material editor>Details>Dithered LOD Transition.

*Note: This also affects non-foliage (thus, do not turn it on unless it’s a foliage mesh or a transparency card). If you have custom LODs, which require custom UVs, the dithering is brutally apparent and will result in a “black pepper dust” transition between them.
