Socketed/Animated Spotlight's Lighting Behaving Oddly

Hello all.

I’m really new to UE4 here so I apologize if this is something simple. I’ve also searched quite a bit this morning and couldn’t seem to find an answer anywhere else.

I modeled and animated a lamp in Blender and imported it into UE4. I wanted a light to emanate from the lampshade. So, I created a socket on the far end of the animation skeleton and attached a spot light to that socket.

It seems to have worked for the most part, but I can’t seem to find a solution to the lighting issue that you see in the gif below. It cuts the lighting off oddly after a certain distance.

I’ve got everything in this scene pretty much default except I upped the lighting quality to production to see if that would help. It didn’t.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

After a little more digging I answered my own question.

I needed to select the spot light and make it a “movable” light as shown below.

After doing this, it works just fine.
