Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Is it possible to deploy an AR app on web/HTML5?

Hi, I will list what I need for a better understanding on my problem:

1 - I need to develop a simple AR app. The user will point the smartphone cam to a mug, the app will read the code on the mug and play a 3D animation.

2 - I want to avoid dealing with google play and apple store and I want to avoid installation of the app by the user

3 - So I thinking in deploying the app on the web. The user will enter on a website, the website ask for permission to acces the camera, permission granted, user points the camera to the mug, the animation begins.

Question 01: Is it possible to do that using unreal engine?

Question 02: I am a motion designer/3D generalist. I have 2 VR projects (marketing projects for business) finished on unreal with sucess but I have no experience with coding and web technologies. I am confortable with blueprints and the unreal engine but this will be my first AR project...In fact, I really don't have a strong understanding about AR. My plan is to do some tutorials, read the manual and pray. I am confortable with 3D modelling, importing files on engine and using bluprints for interaction. But not so confortable about deploying an AR app on web. So, I know this is a subjective question, but how hard is to make something like what I described above?

I don't think so as one HTML5 build is kind of in stagnation right now, two AR support in UE4 depends on platfrom specific solutions which HTML5 (more specificly browsers) out of the box don't provide. But i think it is technically possible overall, but not with stack UE4.
