Can Cascade Beams Light Correctly?

Beam and Ribbon emitters work great with unlit (and translucent, volumetric nondirectional) materials but what about directional lit translucent, opaque, and masked materials? I’ve done a fair amount of experimentation trying to get lit materials to display correctly on ribbons and beams using all sorts of normal transformations but haven’t succeeded. Is this simply impossible?

I can’t say anything about lighting, but refraction, for example, doesn’t stack with particles that aren’t meshes. Maybe it’s the same with lighting?

Anyway, I made a mental note for myself to check it.
