Epic Games Launcher is frozen on a black screen with a blue loading bar

to whom it may concern,

I was trying to install fortnite and the epic games launcher after it had stopped working on me. I tried to reinstall but as soon as I try to open the launcher it just stops responding on a black screen with a full blue loading bar at the bottom. it did work initially but when I tried to install Fortnite it crashed showing an error with the Unreal Engine.

Any help would be awesome.

The same thing happened to me. Just be patient and let it sit for 10-20 minutes eventually it will load!

Anyone have a resolution???

If you dial the resolution of your whole computer back, the launcher works. I set mine to 1600 by 900 to download some games before setting it back to max resolution and just clicking on the new games shortcuts on my desktop, since that still works

  1. Close Epic Games Launcher completely. No process should be running in the Task Manager.
  2. Right-click your Epic Games Launcher’s shortcut, and select “Properties”
  3. Under the Compatibility tab, check the option “Disable resolution scaling for high dpi settings”/“Disable full-screen optimizations”
  4. Hit Apply/Ok
  5. Launch the Epic Games Launcher
