Why does changing Shared Derived Data Cache Location cause UE to crash?

Like most people having issues with expanded amounts of wait time for a project to save, I decided to look into the issue. According to online threads, it seemed as though the Derived Data Cache was the issue. So I proceeded to go into “Editor Preferences/Global” and change the Local and Shared Data Cache locations. By accident I also “Set as Default”. After doing so, I can no longer access any of my projects through UE 4.20. I open the projects and as soon as I start loading the level map, Unreal Crashes. I’ve read thread after thread and looked up every possible solution. I have even uninstalled 4.20 and reinstalled it. I even made copies and opened in a newer version of unreal. Nothing changes. Is there any possible way to recover my projects and get everything back to normal?
