Just changed to 4.21 version of ArtV 1 Plugin and can't get into the animation interface

Just tried to switch from the 4.20 version of the engine to the 4.21 version, and the ARTV.1 tool from the marketplace will no longer go into the animation interface, just constantly brings up the “no characters in scene” message, even though the character is in , rigged, and deforming

After restarting maya a dozen times and testing a million options, I gave up… next day it worked fine… um… so maya held onto some data that was causing it to lock and fail
