Can I share my (student) account with another student?

Hi,

I am student and I subscribe for UE4. My brother is a student too and we want to develop a game and I read that we can share one subscription. I am right? Can somebody tell me how to?

Thanks

Hi, lumbabumba.

UE4 is licensed on a per-seat basis, which means the engine (and engine tools) can’t be shared with non-licensees.

There was some useful discussion in March of the license terms here, which should clarify my answer.

Regards,

Thanks for your answers.

It’s easy to missunderstand this: Any student can personally subscribe for $19/mo, install the software on all of the student’s own computers, and use it for any combination of educational purposes (for free) and for selling commercial products (paying Epic 5% of gross product revenue).

I thought I can subscribe and install it on the computer of another student to use.

But ok…Thanks.

Hi Lumbabumba,

You can install it on any computer you personally own and you can use it for any educational purposes. your fellow student can get a copy of the engine and install it on any computer they personally own and do the same. However, we recently released the engine for academic use for free! Contact your professors at school to have them fill out this form: Erlernen Sie den Einsatz der Unreal Engine, der leistungsstarken Echtzeit-3D-Entwicklungsplattform - Unreal Engine to get students at your school a free copy of UE4. Note: To get the free license your educator must be the individual who fills out this form, we encourage all students to talk to their professors about this opportunity!
