Does Unreal support Hololens development?

I noticed that Unreal now supports Windows Mixed Reality Headsets natively. Does that mean it supports HoloLens or will support it in the future?

If any one has any information about this topic I would greatly appreciate it.

It appears that the answer is yes, but with some effort.

Since I don’t really know what I’m talking about, have a look at this forum post for lots more information: Hololens Template

Hope that helps.

I see in 4.22 you can connect to the Holographic Remoting App via the Windows Mixed Reality Plugin. Do you know how to go about doing something like that? There doesn’t seem to be any documentation on how to go about setting that up.

Is this link the documentation you are looking for? HL Streaming QuickStart

I have been able to connect my HL1 to UE4 using the below link, however you have to play in ‘VR preview’, and then it will transmit your screen to it. However, I still cannot seem to connect it to a camera, so it just sort of floats wherever your viewport was facing. There is no movement control, so if you wanted to walk around a model you loaded in, currently I cannot figure it out.

In my company, we were able to do this to view, walk around and explode, engineering models via Unity, the HoloLens Tool Kit, and the Mixed Reality Tool Kit. Now that UE4 has begun to add HL support, I am testing UE4 with the HL to see if it is a viable alternative that we should pursue.

Hi xRDev, what kind a solution did you end up with? Was i possible to do anything with UE and Hololens (the original not 2 which is supported)?
