Objects not receiving shadows correctly

Hi All,

I am currently working on an apartment interior and have run into an issue where some of my walls, door frames and a couple other surfaces don’t seem to be receiving shadows correctly. I have tried remodeling the various objects both as simple planes and as solid objects but neither fixed the issue. I have also adjusted the light map resolutions, and made both the materials and objects double sided. I thought it might have something to do with how the skylight is perceiving that the certain surfaces aren’t being blocked by other objects for some reason due to how the shadows look when I turn the skylight off. But I can’t be completely sure and after many hours of tinkering at this and comparing my scene to Epic’s RealistcRendering scene, and lots of googling, I’m at a loss.

If anyone has run into this before or has any ideas on how to fix it any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi!

Some settings (lighmass, lights, uvs) could be useful to help!
My first guess is low lightmap resolution (your walls are like floating), low indirect lighting scale and high smoothness…

Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately the walls already have a min. resolution of 2048 and are set to a max of 4096. They also look as they should in the mesh preview window. I also tried setting the indirect lighting scale to .2 and the smoothness to 5 but ended up with worse results over all.

Attached are my current light mass settings and how the walls look in the mesh preview window. As well as screenshots of how it looks with an indirect lighting scale of .2 and smoothness of 5.
