Hi there,
I’m wondering if there is a simple way to match a landscape to a mesh? Here is what I’ve done:
So I used my drone to create a very detailed 3D map of an area of less than 1km/1km.
Unfortunately when I generated the 3D map, the texture file because so scattered and random that I wouldn’t be able to simply take the texture and apply it to the landscape with a heightmap (though for my next project trying that might be an option).
So I thought I’d bring in the land as a mesh and apply custom collisions in 3DS Max - for some reason these don’t seem to work well (and I have used custom collisions before). They were a nightmare trying to match to the land anyway.
I tried exporting a height map to match the landscape to the mesh - but the mesh is much more detailed than the landscape comes out using this method. So I thought I would see if there is a simple solution to this current issue that I didn’t know about?
Apologies for not uploading any pictures - on my laptop right now without access to the main PC.
Thanks,
Malcolm
