Niagara not rendering distortion

I’m having issues trying to figure out how to render a material sprite with refraction and no color.

The material looks fine in the material Editor:

But this doesn’t render in Niagara. I can have any other material here and it renders fine.

Anyone know what is going on here and how to fix it? I have checked use with Niagara sprites in the Usage section

Update, i put this material on a mesh plane and there is still no effect. However if it put it on mesh sphere and it takes effect. Is this a bug?
