the recent launcher release : Build Info: 9.9.0-5206326+++Portal+Release-Live
is completely broken on windows 8.1 64bit
below is how my login screen appears after the mentioned update, even though i tried to repair it using the setup yet it keeps downloading a 1.3mb update and keep breaking itself.
i managed to login in blindly and it appears the old launcher is back, and none of the buttons works and i have no way of updating Fortnite S08. please send a quick hot fix for windows 8.1 users asap because i’m the only one.
Windows 8.1 hasn’t been supported by Microsoft now since January 2018. So, in all likelihood, the latest versions haven’t been tested on 8.1. I know at my office we stopped supporting Windows 8 altogether about 18 months ago for desktop software so it’s no surprise there are issues.
Well yes, that would make sense because windows 7 is still supported which is why it would have been tested on 7 - End of Life for Windows 7 is January 2020 except for enterprise customers who are willing to pay for support. After then you will start seeing things break on 7 as well. I know our office will stop supporting 7 in January for all new product releases and only support 1903 and 1909 (assuming those are the versions) of Windows 10.
Windows 8.1 was never good, it broke so many things. 8 was fast but most people didn’t like it.
yea that i do know, but some of my friends are playing fortnite on windows 7 64bit and they dont have these issues at all, plus many users still use either windows 8.1 or windows 7 for gaming purposes because windows 8 is somewhat unreliable with its updates and constant fps drops (very same reason why i have windows 8.1 booted instead of playing on my windows 10). just wondering if epic will be kind enough to send a hot fix as soon as possible.
It does happens with me on win 10 a month ago …You need to do windows update maybe registry fix issue or try uninstall it and remove it registries…u can do it with iobit uninstaller then install the launcher from the beginning !!!It may work
