why datasmith chang materials to instance without parent material?

Hi ,
After I import datasmith from 3ds max , all my materials become instance material . And they have lost their parent material too . As attached my WOOD material become instance material and it’s parent material become STONE material. I can’t modify anymore, kindly let me know where went wrong .

According to the documentation (Using Datasmith with 3ds Max | Unreal Engine Documentation - under the Materials section)

“For each material in your 3ds Max scene, Datasmith creates a new Material Instance in your Unreal Engine Project. Each of these Material Assets is an instance of a Parent Material that Datasmith also creates in your Project, in the Materials/Master folder.”

The parent material should be located in the folder mentioned.

Yes I tried to find it in master folder. But some materials are really disappear .
And some instance material are not connect to the correct parent Material .
As you can see in my picture attached.
Instance material is WOOD and parent material is STONE.

It sounds like there may potentially be an issue for us to investigate further.

I can confirm the same issue using latest Datasmith 5.3 exporter for 3dsmax with 3dsmax 2024.
Also, the bug report link isn’t working anymore. Else, are there any news on that? Because this topic is from march 2019 and the problem still persists!
