OSX Unreal Engine Install Failure

I’m running OSX 10.9.4. I’ve been able to download and run UnrealEngineLauncher, and have (I believe) successfully downloaded Unreal Engine 4.4.0. However, when I click yellow “Launch Unreal Engine 4.4.0” button, it briefly reads Launching, before returning to it’s default state. Nothing else happens. If I look at my program doc, I can see a new icon for UE4Editor. When I click on it nothing comes up. top menu bar reads Unreal Editor but has no drop downs. Cannot simply quit program. Have to force quit.

I read some reports of people crashing on launch, but they appear to be further in launch that I am getting.

Help is appreciated.

Hey

We’re going to address your issue here. Please get us information we requested from this post:

Thanks!

computer is a 2009 MacBookPro, running OSX 10.9.4

I believe your Mac may be too far below spec, but I’d like to be sure. Can you give us your full system information? You can find this under About This Mac > More Info. Everything there except your serial number, please. Thank you!

Macbook Pro Late 2011 you have to force it to low settings and it doesn’t run great, so I’d bet yours will not be very usable.

MacBook Pro Mid 2009
2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
8GB 1067 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256MB

It’s not my primary machine, so I don’t expect it to run like my equipment at office, however I’m on road a lot lately, so I was really hoping I could do at least some work with it. fact that Editor will not load at all makes me think there is something else going on.

Please open Terminal app and do this:

cd /Users/Shared/UnrealEngine/4.4/Engine/Binaries/Mac/UE4Editor.app/Contents/MacOS
./UE4Editor

This should output some info to terminal window that may help us figure out what’s wrong. Thanks.
