We want to make a discord group to for students to share their work with each other and friends. It could also be used to promote our games design course. It could include full games, but more often tech demos, animation, etc and potentially project files.,

I think you can find answers to your questions in Section 1(a)(b) of the EULA. If you are distributing engine source code, you are only permitted to do so to other UE4 licensees. If you are distributing editing tools, that can only happen through Epic’s approved channels (i.e., Github fork or Marketplace).
