Is there any classic shield block strategy?

Hi there,

I’m really bewildered for creating a shield mechanic for my melee character. When I use collision with pawn on the shield, it throws enemy pawns in the air whenever there is a sudden movement and if I use overlapping on the shield, there are lots of tracing that I should do for preventing intersecting meshes and it’s not even accurate. Does anyone know a solution to this? I don’t know how other people do it in games like dark souls. they have a pretty accurate shield blocks. And every tutorials that I watched seems that they ignored this part and focused on animations.

Thanks for your attention.
