RTX with VR Support | UE4 4.22

Hi there,



I’m trying to use real-time ray tracing in VR, but I’m encountering the following issues:


  • “video driver crashed and was reset”

    (exactly like this person: https://udn.unrealengine.com/questions/492397/view.html)

    It also appears that having reflections enabled results in crashing and freezing as you boot into ‘VR Preview’


  • Only the left eye is processing RTX lighting.

    I have tested this in instanced stereo and standard stereo, and it’s still affected.

Following the linked post, I have the following commands ran in a custom game instance prior to gameplay:

r.RayTracing.AmbientOcclusion = 1

r.RayTracing.Shadows = 1

r.RayTracing.Reflections = 0

r.RayTracing.EnableMaterials = 0



Enabling ambient occlusion and shadows seemed to be fine, however, enabling reflections and/or ‘enable materials’ resulted in the editor freezing or enviably crashing with the message:

“Video driver crashed and was reset. Make sure your video driver is up to date.”

Same results here. I guess it just doesn’t work in VR (yet?).
