Orthographic camera preview does not render correctly

When running the game, it renders correctly, but not in the preview. Same camera if set to perspective previews correctly. Can be reproduced on empty new projects and was observed even in the Tappy Chicken example.

Hey ivankio-

Thanks for your feedback. I have submitted the issue of the orthographic camera preview display to our internal database for further investigation.

Cheers

It’s still not fixed!?

Yes, we are aware this is still an issue and are working to fix it.

Still nothing?

Hey kreese-

There is not an estimated time frame for this to be assessed as our resources are dedicated elsewhere. I have made a note on the bug report that this is still affecting community members and have bumped the community interest appropriately.

WTF, whats wrong with epic, so many qualified engineers but most the crucial elements of the engine riddled with bug. Orthographics cameras bug reported almost 2 year ago, still no solution. Frustrated by all the bugs.

ortographic view is unusable, light bugs, shadows bug… fix pls. fast

What happened about this issue?

Currently our resources are dedicated elsewhere and UE-7737 is not a priority item for us to work on. We don’t have a timeframe for when this may be addressed. Please keep in mind that with source code access, a programmer on your project can implement your own solution, and you are welcome to share that result with Epic for possible integration.

It’s backlogged. Vote here, so they see how important it is.

It’s 2017 now and it’s still not fixed. A basic feature. :frowning:

When is this problem fixed?
The most basic functional issues, the priority should be relatively high.

Hey gmfy-

Currently our resources are dedicated elsewhere and Unreal Engine Issues and Bug Tracker (UE-7737) is not a priority item for us to work on. We don’t have a timeframe for when this may be addressed.
Please keep in mind that with source code access, a programmer on your project can implement your own solution, and you are welcome to share that result with Epic for possible integration.

Hi Epic team,

" a programmer on your project can implement your own solution". Does this means that this is not a bug but more a (lack of) feature. Unity, Cryengine or even Havok vision engine (RIP) get this functionnality in their editor but not Unreal ??
Moast of UE users have not a (dedicated) programmer on his side to develop a feature that should be implemented since years by Epic…
I recommend to all readers concerned by this issue to vote for, hoping a resolved status as soon as possible.

Thanks,

hlx

Hey hlx-

That comment is meant to encourage those with the ability to fix it to do so. With the number of issues that are handled, it may be easier for someone to implement their own fix and submit a pull request to have their fix incorporated into the engine.

Not a solution but you can pilot the orthographic camera in the level editor and change view mode to Lit.

Thanks Nitosouji. Piloting the orthographic camera and changing the view to lit mode works. Unfortunately there are no shadows.

omg I thought I was doing something wrong with my camera settings
I’m relieved and sad at the same time!
