Variable is not linking with widget text

Hello,

This is a very stupid problem, but I have been trying to solve it for hours now and I haven’t gotten anything. Basically, I want to simply link a variable to text in a blueprint widget, but for some reason, it refuses to show up. Here are some behind the scenes photos:

does your cast work?
Also, can you show a screenshot of the binding in the umg designer?

the cast does not work. What do you mean by the binding of the umg designer?

Is NewBlueprint1 the character you’re using? The cast fails, you’re trying to access something that has not been instantiated.

Check the game mode in the world outliner of the level you are using. It is located on the right hand side next to the “details” tab. Make sure the player character is default to “NewBlueprint1”. Also if you watch video #10 in the link below I go over how to set up a basic scoring system using a text box like you have and get it to update using a function, you can replace the logic in the function with a binding it will work similarly. Video #19 also goes over the game mode if you have trouble locating and modifying that.
