What does "My game is at or beyond the prototype phase" really mean?

Hey all.

I want to apply for Epic MegaGrants and I don’t really understand what the “My game is at or beyond the prototype phase” check box means and whether I should check it.

The term “prototype” itself is quite ambiguous and people may mean different things by it.

Thank you!

Usually a prototype is a phase when people checking some core mechanics. It may not have any visuals besides a cubes or something like that, but should have the very core parts of you game.

The main point (as far as I understand) is that you have to have something real, not just a raw ideas.

Also you can try and send the application, then after few monthes you can repeat the application again with the new progress on your project (I’ve heard that if no reply in 3 monthes then the submission is not taken for a grant).

Thank you! That was roughly what I was thinking as well.
