Packaging for Linux : Shader Compiling, a never ending story

When packaging game for Linux, I am now into my 3rd day of compiling shaders. When packaging for Windows 64, the operation takes several at most and then its done. For reference, I am running this on a Razer Blade 2.8 GHZ CPU, 16 GB RAM, and 1080 NVIDIA GPU. I am now starting to suspect that its just spinning its wheals. Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong? Or ir there a problem? If there is no problem, how long does packaging for Linux expected to take, and why is there such a difference between Win64 and Linux Shader compile times?
