Cloth simulation ue4 mannequin

I’m working on creating armor over the unreal engine 4 base mannequin and i want to attach a cape to it, i want to figure out how to make the said cape simulate to be cloth-y.
I have no idea if there is a way to add onto a mesh to use the cloth tool that is in ue4, as far as i know they have to be the same mesh?
I don’t know if there are any other methods to creating cloth simulations.

Any ideas would help thank you!

I use maya and the nvidia physx plugin as it has far superior options to the UE4 clothing system.

But no, they don’t have to be the same mesh. You can make anything into a cloth and attach it to a character.

Hi i don’t really understand how I can make this work, are there any resources that you can think of that might help me in my workflow?
As far as i know the PhysX is outdated and i could not find any helpful resources on attaching clothing, I also don’t understand how you can “attach it to a character” Without re-importing a mesh into ue4 and having it attached to the skeleton, any extra information would be beyond helpful! Thank you for your reply.

What I used to learn it initially was autodesks tutorial on how to make a cape for Geralt from the witcher. Just search for that.

There aren’t a lot of resources because it’s not really used that much by indie youtubers due to complexity I believe.
